How to Handle an Overcrowded Swimming Pool
Facing a Planet Coaster 2 swimming pool over capacity problem? Expand the pool and check its guest limit before spending money on decorative extras. Giving swimmers more room also means reviewing lifeguard coverage across the enlarged pool.
Pool expansion increased the number of guests a pool could accommodate in the early-access build. One pool started with room for 124 guests, increased to 244 guests after an expansion, and later reached 751 guests after further enlargement. Those figures describe that particular build, rather than standard capacities for every pool.
Use this order when adjusting your own water park:
- Select the crowded pool and inspect its capacity.
- Expand its swimming area with the pool construction tools.
- Check the resulting guest limit.
- Review lifeguard coverage across the new area.
- Watch how guests use the expanded pool before making another change.
Keep park attendance separate from pool occupancy when planning the expansion. Guests also spend time walking, eating, shopping, and visiting other attractions, so total park attendance alone is a poor target for sizing one pool.

Separate Pool Capacity From Prestige
Pool size, prestige, and pool-pass value all matter, but they answer different management questions.

In the early-access build, adding ladders, loungers, scenery, and water features increased pool value or prestige. Expanding the pool increased its guest capacity. When the immediate problem is a crowded swimming area, prioritize the expansion.
Budget for the surrounding design afterward. In that same build, enlarging a pool reduced its scenery rating, so additional swimming space could require more decoration to maintain its appeal.
The early-access build also illustrates how those values can move independently: adding pool ladders raised the pool’s value to $8, while adding sunloungers brought it to $8.80. Each sunlounger cost $250 to place. Later, water splash rings helped bring that pool to 671 prestige and an $11 pool-pass value.
Avoid using pool-pass value as your capacity check. A more valuable pool pass does not tell you how much room swimmers have.
Additional pools can provide more swimming destinations, but give guests access to them. Placing extra pools in an unreachable corner does nothing to create usable swimming space elsewhere in the park.
Keep Flume Landing Pools Clear
A pool receiving guests from water slides has a different job from a general swimming pool. Swimmers entering the landing area can end up directly in the path of arriving flume riders.

For a dedicated slide exit, use the pool’s open/closed control:
- Select the landing pool.
- Toggle the pool from open to closed.
- Allow guests already swimming there to leave.
This clears ordinary swimmers from the landing area. Keep a separate pool available for guests who want to swim, and use the dedicated landing area for disembarking slide riders.
Apply this to the pool serving the slide exit, rather than closing your main swimming attraction simply because it is busy.
Review Safety and Guest Facilities After Expanding
An enlarged pool needs another safety check. Inspect lifeguard coverage across the entire swimming area, especially the sections added during construction.

Water-park management also includes the facilities guests use outside the water:
- Provide changing rooms for the swimming area.
- Include shade and access to sunscreen.
- Maintain lifeguard coverage throughout the pool.
- Use heat maps to inspect wider guest needs.
- Select individual guests to read their thoughts and understand their group’s experience.
Use those guest thoughts to choose your next improvement. A complaint about facilities calls for a different response from a pool that needs more swimming space. Address the specific problem before committing the rest of your budget to another expansion.
